Former Agriculture officials apply for bail

Former officials at the Ministry of Agriculture, who are currently remanded in custody on an economic crime charge, have applied for bail at the high court in Banjul.

Kekoi Kuyateh, Dr Amadou Sowe, Dr Mustapha Ceesay, Alhagie Bakary Trawally, Momodou Lamin Ceesay and Momodou Mbye Jabang were recently arraigned at the Banjul Magistrates’ Court on charges of economic crime, among others, and subsequently remanded in custody.

When the case was called on Friday, defence counsel L.S Camara informed  the court that he was just served with an affidavit in opposition dated 12 April 2012, a few minutes before coming to court, and he needed time to reply to the contents of the affidavit due to it nature.

Justice Awa Bah then adjourned the case till 18 April 2012, and ruled that the reply should be filed and served.
