Fityaanu Sidqin Association recently inaugurated a new school in Welingara known as the Saida Fatima Islamic Institute.
Speaking at the occasion, the president of the association, Mr. Ebrima Cham, said that the body was formed in 2000 and registered as a charitable Islamic organisation. The association, he said, has a membership of 909 from The Gambia and Senegal. He said that the aim of the group is to promote the teaching of Islam and contribute towards national development among other things. He said that so far they have built six schools in the country. The new school, he said, will run from grade one to twelve and has so far registered 181 students.
Musa Susso, speaking on behalf of the community, expressed their happiness at hosting the school.
Sheikh Ousman Jawo thanked the community for their support. He revealed that the school was entirely built by the group. Imam Abdoulie Ismaila Bah described education as the foundation for the development of any nation.
Oustass Ousainou Touray from Department of State for Basic and Secondary Education applauded the group for complementing government's efforts in the areas of education and agriculture.
Oustass Musa Bah, Secretary of the association, chaired the occasion.
