League champions Steve Biko and FA Cup champions Gamtel, who are bracing up for the domestic league competition as well as the CAF Club competitions, will face stiff competition from heavyweights Real De Banjul, Brikama United and Hawks for the league and FA Cup titles.
Record champions Wallidan are expected to put up a spectacular show after they gained promotion to the premier tier from their demotion to the second tier in the 2010-2011 season following their dismal performance in the top flight.
For Banjul United, this is their debut appearance in the top flight after finishing second position behind Wallidan and will face serious battle from household names for survival in the premier league, as they would have to fight tooth and nail to win their games to stay in the top flight.
Real De Banjul, who failed to retain their 2011-2012 league title, will be coming all out to win their games to keep their hopes of winning the league after signing duo Samdiden Badjie and Julaba Sawareh in the offseason to boost their midfield and striking tag.
West Coast Region giants Brikama United were the first team from West Coast region to clinch the country’s premier league in the 2010-2011 season under the guidance of coach Essa Sambou, who was sacked after Brikama United lost to Senegalese league champions US Ouakam in the first leg of 2012 CAF 2 champions league tie played at the Brikama Mini Stadium, will be hoping to win their games after two years of trophy drought.
