News monitored on GRTS last night stated that the Ministry of Energy has reduced the tariff for electricity.
According to a press release, the Ministry has announced a reduction for the following categories: commercial 10%, industrial 10% and domestic 5%.
This decision was made following a directive from the President to further reduce the electricity tariff in the country.
The release added that during a three-day retreat for the Cabinet in Kanilai, the issue of high electricity costs was highlighted as a major factor that might hinder the attainment of Vision 2020 and the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs).The President, in his drive to ensure accessibility and affordable electricity supply in The Gambia, and in a bid to encourage commercial and industrial growth, directed the Ministry of Energy to reduce the tariff, the release announced
