News monitored on GRTS last night stated that the Ministry of Energy has reduced the tariff for electricity.
According to a press release, the Ministry has announced a reduction for the following categories: commercial 10%, industrial 10% and domestic 5%.
This decision was made following a directive from the President to further reduce the electricity tariff in the country.
The release added that during a three-day retreat for the Cabinet in Kanilai, the issue of high electricity costs was highlighted as a major factor that might hinder the attainment of Vision 2020 and the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs).
