Ebrima Bah Wins G.C.A Chess Tourney

Ebrima Bah was crowned last weekend as the champion of a chess tourney that was organised by the Gambia Chess Association and jointly sponsored by Gambia Electrical Company and Mayor Samba Faal of Banjul. The tournament was held at the President's Awards scheme in Bakau.

The tournament featured only male category and ten chess clubs took part in the tourney and the tournament winners go to World 11 chess club players.

Ebrima Bah as the champion went home with D5, 000.00, whilst Joseph Dalliah received D3, 000.00 as the runner-up and Eliman Lemon received D1, 000.00 as the third place holder.

Speaking to Pointsport, the Secretary General of the Gambia Chess Association, Isaac Nichol, informed Pointsport that his association is planning to stage another chess tournament in July, which will be named Baby Muhammed Yahya Jammeh National Chess Championship as part of celebrations marking the July 22nd anniversary.

The tournament was witnessed by the Mayor of Banjul Samba Faal, the director Gambia Electrical Company limited, Mr Aki Allen and other important dignitaries.
