The Banjul South side, Digi Dambi were once again crowned giants of Banjul after winning the 2008 Banjul mayor's sponsored Super Cup on Sunday 3rd August 2008.
They came from behind to defeat rivals Waffbi /Eliminite on penalties earning them their seventh title in Banjul.
The game was a well-contested one. Digi Dambi demonstrated more maturity in the field of play.
Waffbi took control in the second half and registered their first goal through star striker Modou Jobe. The tall and lanky striker put Waffbi in the lead in the 56th minute of the second half.
Waffbi's lead was short-lived as ten minutes later Digi Dambi got the equalizer from substitute striker Musa Lowe.
The game was later decided on penalty kicks when it ended 1-1 after 90 minutes of play.
In the penalty shoot out, Digi Dambi scored six goals while five goals were scored by their opponents.
As winners Digi Dambi clinch their 7th trophy in the Banjul Nawettan Championship.
Both sides met on five consecutive times in which Waffbi won on four occasions.
Digi Dambi were awarded a trophy and a cash price of D4,000 and Waffbi went home with D3,000.
Meanwhile the final was witnessed by the lord Mayor of Banjul, Samba , Secretary of States for Youth and Sports Sheriff Gomez, President of The Gambia Football Association, Seedy MB Kinteh, Deputy PS Youth and Sports Abdoulie Kah, Hon Alhaji Sillah, Hon Baboucarr Nyang Alhaji Modou Njie Biriri and Mr. Musa Joof of Joofen multi trade Co. Ltd, sponsor of the organising committee of the Banjul Nawettan.
Meanwhile Alpha Jallow of Digi Dambi won the mayor's player trophy which was presented by the Gambian legend Alhaji Biri Biri.
