One Claudi Gomez, a native of Farato Village, recently testified as the defence second witness, in the criminal trial of careless driving involving Sherik Ngonga, at the Brikama Magistrates' Court before Magistrate Effim.

In his testimony, the defence second witness, Claudi Gomez told the court that on 23rd December 2009, he had a visitor from Lamin, who wanted to go home and decided to hire the accused to take him from Farato to Lamin.

According to him, they were three in number in the vehicle and after dropping his visitor, as they were returning to Farato they picked up one of his friends, while he (the witness) was sitting at the front seat.

He testified that upon arrival at the place where the incident happened, they saw one vehicle that wanted to overtake the motor bike coming from Brikama to Serekunda with high speed and full light. He added that the complainant left his lane to the accused's side when they rammed into each other.

Further testifying, the defence witness stated that they were taken to Yundum Police Station, who referred them to the Banjulinding Police Station.

He revealed that they were later referred to the RVTH where the accused was admitted, because he was seriously injured, while the other passengers were treated and discharged on the same day.

The case was adjourned to 17th March 2010 for judgement.
