Defence opens in assault case

The accused, Ebrima Bajinka recently testified in defence of the assault case preferred against him at the Bundung Magistrates' Court before Magistrate Abdoulie Mbacke.

In his defence testimony, the accused, Ebrima Bajinka told the court that he lives in Ebo-Twon, and that he could recall on 25th December 2009.

According to him, on the day in question he was in his house when the complainant, Mariama Jasseh knocked on his door. Noting that he welcomed her to his sitting room, he said after their discussion he warned her to stop interfering with his family issue and to stop coming to his compound. As he put it, "she's no longer his wife."

He further testified that, one day he was sitting under his veranda when the complainant came and started using abusive language on him by insulting his mother. Consequent upon this, he said, he slapped her and blood started oozing out of her nose.

The case was adjourned to 30th August 2010 for continuation.
