The
Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education has announced the immediate closure
of yet another school for failing to comply with regulations in allowing the
teaching of Islamic Education in their schools.
Deeper Life Lower Basic, Upper Basic and Senior Secondary schools are the latest schools to be closed, ‘‘after several attempts by the Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education to ensure adherence to National Education Regulations”, a statement issued by the ministry said Thursday.
The ministry noted that the act contravened the Laws of the Gambia CAP 46:01 sub-section 38a Vol 7 of the 1997 Constitution, and further stated that arrangements will be in place for the placement of their pupils in other schools.
