As Exposition Kicks off at AFG

In a bid to sensitise potential migrants on the dangers of illegal migration, the International Organisation for Migration, in collaboration with Association of Senegambian Painters, has organised weeklong exposition on the dangers of illegal migration.

Being held at the Alliance Franco Gambienne, the weeklong exposition is based around the theme "Painting Migration in the Sub-region". The forum is, among other things, aimed at sensitising Gambian and Senegalese youths about illegal migration and travelling to Europe through dangerous sea voyages.

According to Mor Faye, alias Muff, President of Senegalese Painters Association, this is one of many expositions that will be jointly held to sensitise youths of the sub-region about illegal migration.

According to Mr. Faye, the exposition was already held in Senegal and this time around in The Gambia. "We also have plans to go to other parts of the sub-region all geared towards sensitising our youths about the dangers of illegal migration".

Also speaking to The Point, Mr. Oko Drammeh, who was also instrumental in ensuring such expositions are held, said travelling to Spain or other parts of the world through the illegal way is one of their main concerns.

"We want to educate and sensitise our youths about the dangers of illegal migration, encourage them to learn skills and help them establish their own businesses in their own country", he noted.
