CRR youths elect new executive

Youths in the Central River Region recently elected a new executive committee to steer the affairs of their regional youth committee for the next two years.

The elective congress, held at the CRR Governor’s Bantaba, was presided over by officials of the National Youth Council and the Ministry of Youth and Sports.It was opened by the deputy governor of the region, Alhaji Malang Saibo Camara.

The new executive committee includes: Omar Jammeh, chairperson (elected unopposed); Ousman Cham, treasurer (unopposed); Musa Chaw, vice chairperson (unopposed), and Bakar Sanneh, public relations officer.

The youth officer of the Ministry of Youth, Alassan Jawo, will serve as secretary to the executive while each of the six district chairpersons serve as members.

Officials of the NYC who presided over the electoral process said the new executive committee is expected to uphold the principle of good governance, hard work, accountability and transparency in the service of youth development.

In his victory speech, the CRR Youth Chairperson-elect, Omar Jammeh, promised to apply his development skills to upgrade youth development in the region.
