The cricket senior league competition is set to kick off soon, The Point has reliably been informed.
The league is said to be competed in by five preselected teams among the lot for a four-week period, Gambia Cricket Association president Johnny Gomez has said.
He also said the association on Wednesday met with heads of various clubs to come out with a final decision regarding the commencement of the senior league.
He further revealed that they shall be starting the primary school league tournament like the girls’ tournament drawing two teams from Brikama and two from Banjul later next month.
The winner of the final competition will be going out with a trophy and cash prize of D10,000 while the runners-up will go home with half the winner prize, which is a sign of motivation to the players.
President Gomez is however calling for additional sponsors to realize the league competitions.
