The national cricket league for Primary and Secondary Schools is set to kick-off in November, featuring schools in Banjul and the Kanifing Municipality.
All Primary Schools in Banjul schools in Banjul plus three others from KMC, namely SOS Bakoteh, Serrekunda School and Bakau Lower Basic School will make the Primary School Championship in the mid week of the second week of November.
The Senior and Upper Basic category will feature a battle among twelve schools.
St Augustine's Senior, Gambia Senior, Muslim, JC Faye Senior and Upper Basic school , St Augustine's Upper Basic, St Joseph, Upper , SOS, Latrikunda , St Therese's , Marina Internationaland Crab Island make up the secondary school league contest.
The move, according to the Gambia Cricket Association, President Johnny Gomez, is part of efforts to develop the game at grassroots level.
"The Primary and Senior secondary School leagues will serve as a source of the scouting of players for national purposes. We need to fill in players for all the categories of the national cricket teams," the cricket boss stated.
