B.M John, a businessman, is in conflict with the laws of The Gambia as he was
brought before the Bundung Magistrates' Court for alleged fraud.
Mr John was charged with eleven counts ranging from fraud and stealing to forgery.
His defence counsel, Sisoho, argued that the Bundung Magistrates' Court lacks the jurisdiction to hear the matter as the offence was not committed within the jurisdiction, adding that the Banjul High Court has the proper jurisdiction to hear the matter.
In response police prosecutor ASP Bojang argued that the Bundung Magistrates' court has the jurisdiction to hear the matter quoting a section of the CPC to back up his argument.
Case adjourned to 23rdJuly 2008.
