Boost for Brufut Marathon

Oct 22, 2010, 1:57 PM

The Brufut Marathon Run Association (BMRA) was the beneficiary of a consignment of shirts for both the female and children runners of this year's Brufut run slated for 8 December 2010 in Brufut.

The association received the boost from the Friends of The Gambia (Fotga), a UK charity organisation, on 15 October 2010.

Other materials donated to the association for Brufut Health Centre included medical items, such as bandages, needles, and diapers.

In handing over the gifts, Ousainou Joof of Fotga office in Kotu informed the gathering that Fotga was pleased to donate the items to the BMRA, who will in turn give them to the 2010 marathon runners and the Brufut Health Centre.

Fotga, according to Mr Joof, has been assisting in areas such as education, sports and health for over fourteen years in The Gambia.

He urged the beneficiaries to put the items into good use.

In receiving the goods, Mr Ba S Jabbi and Mrs Mary Joof, the chairman and the medical officer of the BMRA respectively, thanked Fotga for extending another helping hand to them.

They spoke about the long and fruitful cooperation between the BMRA and Fotga, which has lasted for over 15 years. "On behalf of the BMRA and the entire people of Brufut we are very grateful and we promise to give the items to the people they are intended for," the BMRA officials said.

The ceremony was witnessed by Mr Ndow and other staff of Fotga office in Kotu.
