The Bollywood Ke-Dost Association CEO on the occasion of their 5th anniversary celebration harped on the reasons for forming the association during a general assembly of musicians held recently at the Alliance Franco Gambienne.
Amat Tijan Jallow is the CEO of the Bollywood Ke-Dost Association of The Gambia which promotes Indian songs and culture in the Gambia. The association was established on 13th May 2005, and celebrated its fifth anniversary with the involvement of a lot of performing artistes, who said they were in it to highlight Indian culture.
Amat Tijan Jallow said they want to forge strong ties between The Gambia and India. "We also include education of the Gambian youth on cultural consciousness, and on national issues such as health and environment, teenage pregnancy, delinquency, pollution, malaria, disaster issues, and deforestation, among other things," he said.
He further said their motto is, "To educate, to develop, to entertain and to appreciate." Amat Jallow reiterated their strong desire to help the under privileged in the country. "We have in mind to establish a performing arts school where we can educate the youth on culture, among other issues," he said.
Mr. Jallow said their association has strong ties with the Indian consul in the Gambia, Mr. Ram Mohan. "The mother of our association is Mrs Raj Wani, also an Indian. They have been very supportive," he said.
