Black Pool FC have been crowned champions of the 2012 Brikama Knockout title after a slender 1-0 win over Daru Youths FC in a tightly contested final game played at the Brikama Mini Stadium on Sunday.
Daru Youths, who were solid at the back and relied on counter-attacks, created few goal-scoring opportunities but also failed to utilise them despite Black Pool’s dominance of the game.
Black Pool opened the score through Omar Jarju in the 66th minute of the game from a clever finish to give his side the lead after a deadlock first half, which eventually proved to be the winner for them.
Daru Youths hunted for an equalizer but could not break through Black Pool’s formidable defence.
As champions, Black Pool are crowned with a giant trophy and a cash prize of D10,000, whilst runners-up Daru Youths FC, received D8,000.
The final was organised in the memory of Puntalana late player Ousman Kinteh, who passed way whilst training with his teammates in November 2012.
