Speaking to Bubacarr Jallow, head coach of BJ Academy FC shortly after the game, he said he was very proud, noting that the defeat was like a pay back because Milan FC eliminated them last year on penalties.
He added that they prepared very well for the game, and that his team had been training to make sure they are physically fit to be able to match Milan FC, which has more experienced players.
He further remarked that his key player, Ousman Saho, did not play in the game, but that his advice to the other players was to try to contain Milan FC if they are not able to score during the game, and to try to see how best they can win in the penalty kicks.
He noted that beating Milan FC was a plus for his side going to meet Milan FC in the quarterfinals stage of the knock-out trophy, adding that they will also have their skipper (Ousman Saho) back in with the team. They are going to use the same preparation because they have seen Milan FC play, and know how to deal with them, he continued.
“If you beat a team, and you are to meet them again, you have to prepare harder because they would be ready for you”.
Jallow stated that they came to the Nawetan competition just to expose their players, so that people will know the importance of having an academy, noting that if you look at his team, it is only a single player (Ousman Saho) who is playing in the first division league.
