The Banjul zonal team will on Saturday take on Serrekunda East Zonal side in a fund-raising game set to kick off at 16: 30 pm at the Serrekunda East mini stadium.
Speaking to Pointsport, Abdoul Aziz Titao Mendy Development Officer of the National Sports Council and one of the zonal coordinators, revealed that the purpose of the event is to strengthen the relationship between the zones, and to have a common understanding and lessen tension in the upcoming Super Nawettan.
He further revealed that part of the funds raised will be given to the zones and the National Sports Council, which will be used to rebuild the capacity of the coaches and administrators of the zones.
Mr. Mendy said, “we want to give a quality standard to the Nawettan, and in doing that we need to train more coaches to run clubs effectively.”
The minister of Youth and Sports Alieu K Jammeh and his colleagues, as well as former football players such as Alh Momodou Njie Biri Biri and Baboucarr Sowe Louds, among others, are expected to grace the occasion.
