Banjul United on Wednesday 2nd June 2010 defeated Young Africans 1-0 in the Week Sixteen fixtures of the Gambia Football Association (GFA) Second Division League, at the Serrekunda East Mini-stadium to climb second position on the league table with two games remaining on the league fixtures.
Banjul United, who were more determined and hungry for a victory open the score line through Alpha Cham in the 57th minute of the game from a brilliant header.
Madikay Njie and Cherno Choi, both had clear chances to level the score line for Young Africans, but failed to capitalise on their chances, thus the game ended 1-0 in favour of Banjul United.
Banjul United are now second position on the league table with 25 points from sixteen games, while Young Africans collected 23 points from sixteen league fixtures.
On the same day, at the Serrekunda West Mini-stadium, Africell FC defeated Serrekunda East by 2-1 to maintain top spot on the league table with 29 points from sixteen games, while Serrekunda East collected 21 points from sixteen games.
The same day, at the Father Gough Sports Complex in Manjai Kunda, Latrikunda United defeated Nema United by the same score line.
Lartikunda United now collected 18 points from sixteen games, while Nema United collected 22 points.
At the Box Bar Mini-stadium in Brikama, Lamin United defeated Serrekunda United by 4-3. Lamin United now stands at 24 points, while Serrekunda United are still at the bottom of the league table with 15 points.
