Speaking to reporters shortly after the game, Majorr Saine, head coach of Banjul United, said he was happy for the victory, adding that their objective was to win.
"Since the second division league ended we have not trained as a team, we just called the players yesterday and informed them to come and play today," he said, adding: "Serrekunda East FC is a good team and they were more physically fit than our players during this game because we did not train for this game."
He added that they would play well in their next game as their fans expect them to do much better than the last game, while boasting that they would enter the next game with the same approach by not training for it.
Nyanga Sallah, head coach of Serrekunda East FC, said: "I feel good despite losing to Banjul United because the players really did well."
Sallah also said that fatigue affected his players’ game approach due to their long journey to Farafenni within a very short period.
"We came from Farafenni two days back, just had a day rest and then played again today; so I think it was a good job from the players today," he said.
Sallah, in an interview with Pointsport, added: "We had a lot of difficulties on our way; our vehicle had a breakdown on our way back home and we had to spend the night at the Barra Ferry Terminal and that tiredness affected the players, but after all it was a good job from the players today."
He also said: "The season is over now and the players will go back to their various nawetaan clubs but shortly after the nawetaan we will gather them together to prepare well for the second division league to be able to have a better league next season."
Sallah also used the opportunity to thank the fans of the team for "always being there for the team" despite their poor form this season.
He also promised the fans that they would put up better performance next season.
