Banjul flood victims receive donation

The Banjul Regional Disaster Management Committee yesterday distributed food and non-food items to last year's flood victims in Banjul, at a ceremony held at the BCC chambers.

Speaking at the handing over ceremony, the Chairman of the Banjul Disaster Committee, Mr. Wilson Shyngle, who is also the Deputy Mayor of the city, said Muslim Aid-The Gambia, donated the items to the city's Disaster Committee. He stated that the items consist of twenty Aqua box, including second hand clothing, ten bags of rice, five cartons of beef and soap, among others.

He added that a proper assessment was done in all the wards of Banjul before the allocation of gifts to the beneficiaries.

For his part, Mr. Essa Khan, the Executive Director of the National Disaster Management Agency said this year his agency would not only provide assistance but will be trained on risk assessment and disaster control.

The beneficiaries and their families attended the ceremony.
