The Mayor of Banjul, Abdoulie Bah, on Tuesday presided over the launching of the Banjul Local Organising Committee for the 2014 National Youth Conference and Festival (NAYCONF) at a ceremony at held the Banjul City Council hall.
The biennial youth event is set for later this year in Jarra Soma in the Lower River Region, and will bring together youths from all the regions in the country to discuss issues affecting their lives.
In his launching statement, Mayor Bah said this will be the 11th edition of NAYCONF, and the Local Organising Committee (LOC) was established to mobilize, raise funds and coordinate all the activities in preparation for the NAYCONF, as well as facilitate the successful participation of Banjul youths in NAYCONF 2014.
Mayor Bah expressed his council’s readiness to support the young people of Banjul, and would do everything possible to make sure Banjul is well represented.
The mayor hailed the members of the LOC for accepting the challenge to live up to expectations.
