Bakau New Town Lower Basic School on 7 December 2012 presented a certificate of appreciation to B&C Education Organization in the United Kingdom for their invaluable contribution towards the development of the school.
Speaking at the presentation ceremony held at the school’s grounds in Bakau, the headmistress of the school, Haddy S. Njie, applauded the B&C Education Organization for its tremendous support towards her school.
She said the support given to the school will immensely contribute to improving learning at the school.
Njie pointed out that the laptop, digital camera and learning materials given to the school will enable students to acquire IT skills as well as expose them to modern technology.
“This humanitarian gesture,” she noted, “is highly appreciated and is inline with the objectives of the education policy of Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education (MOBSE).”
The Cluster Monitor for the area, Malleh Saabali, expressed appreciation with members of the B&C Education for their invaluable contribution towards the development of the school, saying the gesture will go a long way in improving the academic standard of the pupils.
Saabali noted that the new education policy premised three key areas which are access, relevance and quality.
Quality education can hardly be achieved without support from individuals, philanthropists and organisations.
Saabali also thanked B&C Education Organization for the support giving to the school.
Speaking on behalf of B&C Education Organization in the UK, Des Bowden, said that after this donation of a laptop, digital camera and other items to Bakau New Town Lower Basic School, they are planning to drill a bole-hole and fence the school garden.
