Atkins FC Receives Sports Materials

As part of their contribution to the development of football in Brikama, a British couple, Mr. and Mrs. Atkin, on Sunday February 8th 2009 donated sports materials to Atkins FC of Brikama Wellingara in the Western Region of The Gambia.

The donated items include balls, flags and jerseys.

Speaking at the presentation held at Brikama Wellingara, China Bah, a fire officer, said that he was the one who initiated the relationship between Atkins FC and Mr. and Mrs. Atkins over a year ago. He commended Mr. and Mrs. Atkins for their tremendous contribution to the development of football in Brikama Wellingara and he urged the beneficiaries to make good use of the donated items.

For his part, the donor Mr. Akins advised the team members to make best use of the items donated.

He said made the gesture from the bottom of their hearts without thought of payback from the beneficiaries and he also said that the gesture is geared toward assisting the needy.

Mr. Atkins also used the occasion to call on philanthropists, stakeholders and well wishes to invest in sports particularly football.
