The Gambia Armed Forces, Young Africans and Waterman FC of Basse are all through to the first round of the Gambia Football Association (GFA) FA Cup competition after winning their preliminary round games.
Armed Forces sailed to the first round of the FA Cup by beating Interior 3-0 at the Brikama Box Bar Mini-stadium on Thursday evening.
The khaki boys opened the scoring through playmaker Landing Darboe, alias Delpiero, in the 15th minute when he converted from a penalty spot before Baboucarr Badjan sealed the victory in the 25th and 35th minute of the game.
Young Africans progressed to the first round after beating academy boys Samger 2-1 in the other FA Cup game played at the Banjul KG5 Mini-stadium the same day.
Star player Lamin Sarjo Samateh put the academy boys ahead in the 20th minute but his goal was cancelled by Sainey Touray’s brace that sent Young Africans into jubilation in the 55th and 77th minutes.
Waterman FC of Basse also advanced to the first round following their hard-fought 2-1 victory over Zygot Seaview at the Serrekunda East Mini-stadium the same day.
