The fourth prosecution witness (PW4), Alieu Sonko, a nurse, working at the Brikama Major Health Centre, recently testified in the alleged rape case involving one Modou Lamin Yerrajang at the Special Criminal Court in Banjul.

Sonko told the court that on 10 August 2011, while he was on duty at the Brikama Major Health Centre, he received a rape case from Kombo Sanyang Village, adding that the victim was taken to the labour ward and physical examination was conducted.

He said he later made a report to the police station.

The witness identified the report by his signature, which was admitted and marked as exhibit without any objection from the defence.

He added that his finding on the report was that there was a slight tear on the vagina of the victim and there was evidence of penetration.

Under cross-examination by the defence counsel, the witness adduced that he examined the victim personally, and the tear he found was a slight tear, which could be caused by anything.

He added that he could not say the accused had raped the victim.

The case continues.
