Alleged cocaine trafficker charged, remanded

The Banjul Magistrates’ Court yesterday remanded in custody one Joan Carlos Moreno, who was charged with being in possession of prohibited drugs for the purpose of trafficking.

Joan Carlos Moreno denied the charge, and was subsequently remanded.

According to the particulars of offence, on 16 June 2011 at the Brikama College police checkpoint in the West Coast Region, the accused person, Joan Carlos Moreno, was found to possess 63k and 440mg of cocaine and thereby committed an offence.

The case was adjourned till 26 September 2011, for hearing.
