Ahl Albeit Islamic Organization donates foodstuff to EFSTH

Ahl Albeit Islamic Organization yesterday donated foodstuff to Edward Francis Small Teaching Hospital, as part of its contribution to Muslims, especially to the poor and needy.

The donated foodstuff includes ovaltine, biscuits, rice, sugar, juice and other items worth D150,000, and it has been an annual event by the Lebanese community for several years now.

Speaking at the presentation ceremony, the Imam of the Lebanese community in The Gambia, Imam Rabea Farhat, thanked the Almighty who made it possible and enabled them to embark on such magnanimous gestures towards patients and the needy.

Imam Rabea Farhat told the gathering that they were making the donation in return to have Allah’s blessing and mercy, adding that Muslims in the holy month of Ramadam should help each other, and have mercy for each other, especially towards the poor and the orphans.

He stressed the importance of helping each other in time of need as he cited a verse and hadith of the Prophet to back his points, and further prayed for the patients for their speedy recovery.

Receiving the items, the Chief Medical Director of Edward Francis Small Teaching Hospital, Dr Mhd Ammar Al-Jafari, expressed delight and appreciation over the donated foodstuffs.

He said he was happy to receive the foodstuff on behalf of the entire hospital, stating that this was not the first of its kind as they did it even last year.

He said that Ahl Albeit Organization had been doing this annually and thanked the organization for their support, saying it was timely,

The PRO of the hospital, Modou Lamin Janneh, also thanked members of the organization for its generosity which they have been extending to the Muslims.
