Ahead of this year’s Muslim holy month of Ramadan, the ministry of Trade, Industry, Regional Integration and Employment has assured the public of an adequate stock of basic commodities leading to and beyond the period.
This, according to a press release from the ministry, followed a recent meeting of parties notably, the Gambia Competition Commission and major importers of commodities in the country.
“The general public is further informed that prices of basic commodities will remain stable, and generally falling, in spite of the recent appreciation of the U.S Dollar against the Dalasi,” the release added.
The release further assured the public that during the month of Ramadan, major importers will open retail outlets from where consumers can buy at wholesale prices.
It also assured the public that the Gambia government will continue to work closely with the private sector to ensure the availability and affordability of basic commodities, at all times.
