As the Gambia Chamber of Commerce and Industry (GCCI) prepares for yet another Annual General Meeting, a serving board director has called on his fellow board directors to give a chance to other Gambians to come in and make a difference.
Ansumana Julakay Marenah, who served as a board director of the GCCI for six years, said in a letter addressed to the President and Chief Executive Officer of the GCCI and copied to The Point, that after serving two three-year terms on the Board of the Chamber, he will now relinquish his position as director.
“This is in view of the fact that I want to give chance to my fellow Gambians to also come in and make a difference,” Julakay said in his letter.
In this regard, he went on, “I wish to thank the entire membership of the Chamber and the Business Community for having placed the confidence in me, and giving me the opportunity to serve the business community of The Gambia”.
While lauding the ministry of trade, regional integration and employment, Julakay also commended the Gambian leader for providing a conducive business environment for the Gambian economy as a whole.
The Annual General Meeting of the GCCI is slated for Friday 5th October 2012 at the Kairaba Beach Hotel.
