Kebba Jorbateh, who is being tried at the Banjul Magistrates’ Court for impersonation yesterday told the court that he was framed by the third prosecution witness, (PW3), Babucarr M.S Jorbateh, Deputy Chief of Protocol.

The accused person also said he intended to call relevant witnesses.

This was after the prosecuting police officer said that the witnesses the accused person intended to call are going to dwell on what had transpired between him and PW3.

He added that the accused person had earlier told the court that PW3 was the one who masterminded all the charges against him.

Prior to this statement, the prosecutor said that a subpoena was issued by this court on the request of the accused, adding that he was ordered to work with the process server of this court to make sure that proper distribution was effected.

The prosecutor further stated that the accused had violated and was not respectful to the court order, and that he had failed to advance any reason why he has violated the court’s order.

The prosecutor further urged the court to declare the defence case closed, as the primary objective of the court was to dispense justice clearly and speedily in favour of both parties.

Magistrate Tabally, however, overruled the application made by the prosecution, adding that the witnesses the accused person intended to call are relevant, and the court would grant him an adjournment.

The case was then set to continue on 26th September 2011.
