The Kanifing Magistrates’ Court presided over by Magistrate Jobarteh recently freed one Abubacarr Conteh after the prosecution applied to withdraw the case.
The accused, Abubacarr Konteh, was acquitted and discharged, after being charged with the alleged offence of obtaining goods by false pretence.
When the case resumed, the prosecuting police officer, Inspector Kanteh, rose to announce his representation for the IGP and then applied to withdraw the case.
Kanteh further told the court that the complainant in the case was a good friend of the accused person, and they are of the same nationality.
The prosecution was approached by the complainant with the intention that he no longer pursues the matter, said the prosecuting officer.
Consequently, the trial magistrate struck out the case and accordingly acquitted and discharged the accused person.
According to the charge sheet, the accused on 31 January 2012 at Churchill’s Town, by false pretence and with intent to defraud, obtained from one Abdoulie Camara goods to the tune of D21, 150 with the pretext that he was the proprietor of a school.
