Eight students of the Gambia Golf Association Academy will today, at the Gambia National Olympic Committee Headquarters, receive certificates after completing a ten-lesson course in golf theory and practicals.

Two outstanding male students under 18 will each receive a golf scholarship package worth GMD30,000. It includes clubs, bags, balls, tees, gloves, shoes, clothing, membership of Fajara Club, 15 lessons, entry fees for 20 competitions and caddy fees for 20 rounds.

The scholarship package is funded by surplus proceeds from the recently-concluded Baby Mariam Jammeh Golf Tournament that was sponsored by President Yahya Jammeh.

Meanwhile, the president of the Gambia National Olympic Committee, Alhaji Momodou Dibba, has agreed to the presentation, and in attendance will be IOC member Ms Beatrice Allen.

Other senior sports personalities from the National Sports Council and Ministry of Youth and Sports have been invited.
