Magistrate Tabally of the Kanifing Magistrates’ Court
yesterday convicted and sentenced one Ismaila Saidy to a mandatory jail-term of
ten years for drug trafficking.
Saidy was also fined D1 million in default to serve another ten years in prison with hard labour.
On count two, the convicted person, Ismaila Saidy, was fined D250,000, in default to serve three years in prison.
Both sentences are to run concurrently.
The charge sheet on count one stated that Ismaila Saidy on 3 May 2012, at the Bullock Police checkpoint, in the West Coast Region, had in his possession 6kg, 620grams of cannabis sativa, a prohibited drug for the purpose of drug trafficking.
And count two of the charge sheet read that he was arrested in the cause of transporting six bundles of cannabis sativa.
