People in The Gambia are actively involved in grassroots environmental projects, including planting trees, cleaning beaches, and restoring mangrove ecosystems.
Groups such as Young Volunteers for the Environment-YVE Gambia are dedicated to environmental conservation and actively engage young people in protection efforts.
Gambian youth also utilise education and awareness campaigns to inform communities about environmental issues like plastic pollution and climate change.
Many youth groups are working to involve in environmental initiatives, fostering a sense of collective responsibility.
With The Gambia being particularly vulnerable to climate change, young people are actively advocating for policies and actions to mitigate its impacts.

Meanwhile, Young Volunteer for Environment YVE-Gambia endeavours to bring about change through advocacy, networking, training, dialogue and partnership through which raising awareness, government and non-governmental networking and lobbying, community dialogue and corporate action will be the direction of its volunteer members for results.
All the activities they embarked on were successful in this short time despite the struggles for funds.
YVE)-The Gambia has in mind among other things to launch community projects and environmental green entrepreneurship initiatives that will provide communities with field research and documentary training, with the aid of media information technology, to facilitate the documentation and preservation of the diverse Senegambia Cultural heritage, coastal community river bolong, women and youth gardens among others many of which are rapidly disappearing from contemporary practice and use.
The mission of YVE is to collect documents, advocate and help support in the preservation and development of these important environmental sites.
YVE activities have awakened communities and its youth population to consider the urgent needs of environmental development and protection with concern for the future.
The YVE also put pressure on the urgent need of stakeholders; policy and decision makers to integrate a long term sustainable strategies and projects in their planning process and implement education, training and awareness projects that drive towards a sustainable development.
