Youth & Sports minister commences nationwide familiarisation tour

The minister responsible for Youth and Sports development in The Gambia, Bakary Y. Badjie accompanied by his permanent secretary, DPS technical and heads of satellite institutions under his ministry on Monday commenced a seven-day nationwide familiarisation tour. 

The tour is designed to enable the Hon. Minister and his delegation get first-hand information and look at facilities and projects at all levels as well as listen to stakeholders’ concern in order to address them.

The tour started in North Bank Region were the minister and his entourage visited various sites within the region including the Essau Football Field in Essau, Seed Bank Garden, National Youth Council and Tikki-Fii Enabel Cash for Work Site in Kerewan, Youth Office Gambia Songhai Initiative, Farafenni Youth Center and a courtesy call on the governor of the region.

The ministry during their day two of the tour, stopped at Kaur proposed mini-stadium where the minister and entourage were led to the football field by sports stakeholders of the region before proceeding to Nyanga Bantang to visit NEDI’s intervention site in Central River Region.

The tour will help the ministry develop an approachable roadmap for government to prioritise areas of Youth and Sports development in the country.

During a short meeting held with the minister, youth and stakeholders in North Bank Region raised concerns and called on the ministry to support them in addressing the concerns and problems highlighted.

The minister and his team of technocrats assured young people of ministry's support in addressing the problems and challenges raised.
