Yakarr FC crowned champions of Women’s League Two

Yakarr FC have been crowned champions of the 2023/24 Gambia Football Federation (GFF) Women League Division Two at a colourful coronation ceremony held at the Box Bar  Mini Stadium on Sunday.

Coach Sheriffo Touray and his Yakarr FC side lost to Greater Tomorrow 5-2 in their week-22 fixture played at the Box Bar Mini Stadium in Brikama.

Elizabeth Ndecky and Mesinda Mendy both scored a brace each for Greater Tomorrow in the 23rd, 82nd, 66th and 64th minute of the match respectively.

Maraima Badjie also registered her name on the score sheet for Greater Tomorrow in the 77th minute of the match.

Mariatou Mendy and Joko Saho scored for Yakarr FC in the 46th and 84th minute of the match respectively.

Yakarr FC collected 44 points in 22 league matches.

The Sifoe based based-team won 12 matches, drew 8 and lost 2.

Yakarr FC scored 45 goals.

As champions, Yakarr FC were awarded with medals, a giant trophy and a cash prize of D300, 000 while Jeshwang United received D150, 000 as runners-up.

Kinteh’s FC received D100, 000 as third-place holder.
