The Gambia Football Federation (GFF) is confident of appointing a new coach for the country’s senior national team before June 2024.

The Scorpions will play against Seychelles and Gabon in the global biggest football fiesta qualifiers in June 2024.

The Gambia senior national team is still without a coach since the resignation of Tom Saintfiet after The Gambia’s exit from the 2023 Total Energies Africa Cup of Nations.

According to news reaching The Point Sports Desk, the process of recruiting a new coach for The Gambia senior national would be completed before the Scorpions 2026 World Cup qualifier matches in June 2024.

The Gambia occupy second-place from bottom in Group F of the 2026 World Cup qualifiers without a point after losing their two opening qualifier matches.

The Scorpions slipped to Burundi 3-2 in their opening qualifier match before slipping to Ivory Coast 2-0 in their second qualifier match.

The Gambia must win their eight remaining qualifier matches and pray Ivory Coast and Gabon both slip in their remaining qualifier matches to secure qualification to the 2026 World Cup.
