Wallidan, PSV Wellingara record vital wins in Gambian Premier League

Wallidan and PSV Wellingara recorded vital wins while The Gambia Armed Forces (GAF), Fortune, Team Rhino and Greater Tomorrow all drew blanks in The Gambia Football Federation (GFF) First Division League week 10 matches played over the weekend across different venues.

Wallidan defeated Banjul United 2-1 during a Banjul-derby game played at the Banjul KG5 Mini Stadium.

Babanding Saho gave Wallidan the lead in the 41st minute before Masub Gabisi leveled for Banjul United in stoppage time of the first period. John Gomez scored the winner for Wallidan two minutes from time in the second period.

The win tentatively moved Wallidan to the top of the table standing with 19 points, while Banjul United dropped to 12th position with 11 points.

PSV Wellingara shocked Gamtel with a 2-0 victory at the Brikama Box Bar Mini Stadium.

Abdoulie Danso's brace (two goals) was enough to give struggling side, PSV Wellingara a vital victory.

The victory puts PSV Wellingara on 14th position with 8 points, while Gamtel sit 7th position with 15 points.

GAF drew goalless with Fortune during a game played at the Bakau Mini Stadium.

The result puts GAF on 6th position with 15 points, while Fortune occupy 9th position with 14 points after 10 games.

Team Rhino also played a similar score line against Greater Tomorrow at the Late Ousman Saho Field in Old Yundum. 

The result puts Team Rhino on 10th position with 12 points, while Greater Tomorrow occupy 15th position with 7 points.

Earlier, on Friday, Brikama United and Hawks played a spectacular 2-2 draw at the Banjul KG5 Mini Stadium.

Captain Omar Sarr and Remi Mendy scored for the defending champions, while Mustapha Drammeh scored a brace (both goals) for Brikama United in the 45th+2 and 76th minute respectively.

Brikama United now sit on 11th position with 11 points, while Hawks occupy 13th position with 9 points.  

Steve Biko were held to a goalless draw by Samger during a match played at the Bakau Mini Stadium.

Both teams shared the same number of points (15) each with Steve Biko sitting on 5th position, while Samger occupy 8th position.
