Waa Banjul win in GFF 1st Division League

Waa Banjul recorded an impressive win during their week-fourteen fixtures of the Gambia Football Federation (GFF) First Division League played on Sunday.

Waa Banjul beat PSV Wellingara 2-1 during a game played at the Late Ousman Saho Field in Old Yundum.

Modou Salieu Jallow gave Waa Banjul the lead after converting a penalty in the 23th minute. Bakary F Badjie leveled for PSV Wellingara in the 43rd minute but defender Yusupha Samateh’s own-goal in stoppage time help Waa Banjul collect the all-important maximum points.

The win puts Waa Banjul at 14th position with 13 points, three points above PSV Wellingara, who occupy 15th position with 10 points.

Elsewhere, Team Rhino defeated Hawks 3-0 during a game played at the Bakau Mini Stadium.

Baba Hydara’s brace in the 48th and 59th minutes and Modou Lamin Nyassi’s strike in the 67th minute gave Team Rhino a comfortable win.

The win moves Team Rhino to 8th position with 19 points, while Hawks sit 15th position 13 points.

Meanwhile, Fortune beat Brikama United 1-0 during a derby game played at the Brikama Box Bar Mini Stadium.

Bakary Jawara scored the only goal of the match for Fortune in the 70th minute.

Fortune now to 6th position with 20 points, while Brikama United sit 11th position with 15 points.

Banjul United played a 1-1 draw against Steve Biko during a game played at the Banjul KG5 Mini Stadium.

Mansour Mbye scored for Banjul United while Modou Lamin Touray scored for Steve Biko.

The result puts Banjul United at 12th position with 15 points while Steve Biko occupy 7th position with 19 points.
