Vice President Jallow receives King's Baton

Vice President of The Gambia, Muhammed B.S. Jallow on Tuesday 14 October 2025 received the King's Baton at the State House in Banjul.

The Gambia National Olympics Committee (GNOC) presented the King's Baton to Vice-President Jallow.

This was part of events marking the King's Baton Relay in The Gambia, which began on Monday 13 through Friday 17 October 2025.

The GNOC, serving also as Commonwealth Association of The Gambia, is currently coordinating the event.

Second Vice-President of GNOC Bakary K. Jammeh is the chairperson of this year's King's Baton Relay.

Chairperson of the King's Baton Relay this year, Bakary K. Jammeh, acknowledged changes in the protocols regarding the Baton as each country is accorded the opportunity to design its own Baton instead one Baton only going around.

Jammeh stated that the Baton is designed in a way that showcases The Gambia in all aspects.

He expressed appreciation for being warmly received, while informing the high-level gathering that The Gambia would participate in four categories, namely athletics, swimming, judo and paralympics.

Minister of Youth and Sports Bakary Badjie presented the Baton to the Vice-President.

VP Jallow underscored the unifying element of Commonwealth and how its showcases diverse cultures, especially during events such as the King's Baton Relay.

He assured the delegation of government's commitment and support.
