
The training brought together 15 female reporters, exposing them to different modules such as sports reporting, languages, ethics and laws of the game.
Speaking at the training, the chairperson of Women’s Sports Reporters Commission, Sarjo Baldeh, stated that the training was not just a session of learning but a statement that women love to every space, including the press box, sideline and behind the lense and in front of the camera.
Baldeh emphasized that women’s sports reporter continued to defy stereotypes, break barriers and carve out a place in a field where their voices, talents and stories are not only valid but vital.
The training would equip reporters with tools, knowledge and competence in serving their part and grow as professionals from ethical commentary to sports reporting and digital storytelling.
''You are here to prepare to inspire and to be connected,'' Baldeh said.
Baldeh thanked their partners, facilitators and all those who believe in the power of women in media.
Baldeh described the training as a platform for personal and professional evaluation.
''We are not only building capacity but we are building a legacy,'' Baldeh said.
President of Sports Journalist Association of the Gambia, Omar Jarju, believed that: ''Whatever they learned during the training, they will put it in practice and make research about it.''
Commissioner Ebrima Fadera and Lamin Gibba both expressed similar sentiments.
