Serrekunda East nawettan qualifiers continues to gain momentum

Serrekunda East Sports Development Organisation’s (SESDO) ongoing ‘nawettan’ qualifiers continues to gain momentum at the Buffer Zone Football Field in Tallinding.

The zone started its nawettan qualifiers with over 60 teams, battling for the available four places in the nawettan proper.

Despite playing their qualifier matches at the sandy Buffer Zone Football Field, Serrekunda East Sports Development Organisation (SESDO) nawettan qualifiers are given teams and players the opportunity to showcase their skills and talents.

Border Bii and Herr Bii became the latest teams to advance to the next round of the Serrekunda East nawettan qualifiers following their wins over the weekend.

Border Bii progressed to the next round the qualifiers after defeating Ron Tah Bii 2-1 during the earlier afternoon game played on Sunday  

Dodou Jarju scored a brace for Border Bii in the 8th and 43 minutes, while Fakebba Dibba scored the only goal for Ron Tah Bii in the 30th minute.

Herr Bii defeated Kongi Bii 5-4 on post-match penalty shootouts following regulation time ended 3-3 in a keenly-contested late game played on Sunday.

Modou Sarjo Scored a brace for Herr Bii in the 36th and 45+1 minute before Ebrima Camara netted the third goal in the 74th minute.

Kongi Bii came through Modou Jatta’s own-goal in the 23rd minute of the match before Ismaila Cham and Edward Jasseh scored the second and third goal in the 43 and 55 minutes respectively.

Samba Yii defeated Football King 1-0 in the earlier game played on Sunday morning.

Assan Jahateh's lone goal in the 49 minutes was all but enough to earn Samba Yii a place in the next round of the Serrekunda nawettan qualifiers.

Real de Abuko thumped Fajikunda United 2-0 in the late game in the morning to cruise to the next round of the annual Serrekunda East nawettan qualifiers.

Musa Mansally opened the scores for Abuko United in the 12 minute of the match before Larry Kujang converted a spot kick in the 55 minutes.

Castle Bii defeated Gold Yard 2-1 in the earlier morning game played on Saturday.

Ebrima Jagne and Alagie Ceesay scored for Castle Bii in the 9th and 13th minutes respectively before Omar Ceesay pulled back one goal for Golf Yard in the 69th minutes, which eventually proved to be a consolation for them.

Universal Sports defeated LK City Academy 4-3 on post-match penalty shootouts after regular time ended goalless in the late encounter played on Saturday morning to navigate to the next round of the qualifiers.

Elephants thrashed Valley FC 3-0 on post-match penalty shootouts after regulation time ended 1-1 in the earlier game played on Saturday afternoon to cruise to the next round of the qualifiers.

Yusupha Dibba opened the scores for Valley in the 21st minutes, while Jakaria Sanyang equalized for Elephants FC in the 23rd minutes.

Celtic United beat South Africa 3-1 on post-match penalty shootouts after 90th minute ended goalless.

Both teams forced the game to post-match shootouts as they failed to convert any of the numerous chances during the game.
