Scorpions begin intensive training ahead of New Zealand clash

The Gambia senior national team on Wednesday started intensive training ahead of their international friendly match with New Zealand on 16 November 2021 in Dubai.

 

The Scorpions will use the upcoming days to prepare themselves well for their warm up match with the Oceania country as part of their preparations for the 2022 Africa Cup of Nations set to begin on 9 January 2022.

Coach Tom Saintfiet and his charges slipped to Morocco CHAN team 7-2 and Sierra Leone 2-1 in international friendly matches played last month.

The Gambia has been paired with Tunisia, Mali and Mauritania in Group D of the 2022 Africa Cup of Nations to be hosted in Cameroon.

The Scorpions finished top-spot in Group D of the 2022 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers with 10 points after six group matches.
