The game was played at the Brikama Box Bar Mini Stadium.
The home side, Brikama dominated the early proceedings but it was Sanyang who came close to breaking the deadlock if not for the brilliance of the Brikama net-minder, Ebrima Fadera who’s outstretched save kept Sanyang at bay.
Brikama opened the scoring through Babucarr Sallah in the 44th minute. Lamin Tamba restored purity for Sanyang after his strong shot finish in the 52nd minute.
Brikama again took the lead in the 75th minute through Abdoulie Tamba but Abdoulie Sima scored a late goal to force the game into penalty shootouts.
Following the scintillating 2-2 draw in regulation time, the epic encounter was decided by post-match penalties where Sanyang triumphed 3-2.
As winners, Sanyang FC were awarded a giant trophy, gold medals and a cash prize of D45, 000, while the runners up, Brikama got D35, 000 as a consolation prize.
