The Kombo East boys slipped to the Sanyang boys 1-0 in the quarterfinal match of the 2021 West Coast Region zonal football tournament prior to their annual super nawettan zonal championship quarterfinal clash.
Kombo East came all out to beat Sanyang in their last-eight encounter to cruise to the semifinals of the 2022 GFF super nawettan zonal football tournament.
Abdoulie Sima opened the scores for Sanyang in the 89th minute of the match, which eventually proved to be the winner for the Sanyang boys.
Kombo East reacted quickly for an equaliser but to no avail thus the match ended 1-0 in favour of Sanyang.
The victory earned Sanyang a place in the semifinals of the annual super nawettan zonal football championship.
The defeat saw Kombo East out of the 2022 GFF super nawettan zonal football tournament.
