Reug Reug, Jobis set to face off in wrestling season opener

The Gambia Wrestling Association (GWA) 2022-2023 wrestling season is set to start in a spectacular fashion with nine bouts organised by the Wrestling Revival Group (WRG) Promotion. The opening is slated for 23rd October 2022 at the Serrekunda West Mini Stadium. 

Reug Reug of Club Tallinding Japoo will face Jobis of Club Ebo Town while Armeh of Club Sanchaba Ham Sa Chossan will fight against Tapha Tine of Club Mara in a bout termed as the clash of the generation contest.

Tallinding-based wrestler, Reug Reug, who is on a seven-combat unbeaten run will face an uphill task against a more experienced Jobis of Ebo Town, who has won back-to-back fights. 

Meanwhile, Armeh of Sanchaba and Tapha Tine are set for another mouthwatering special combat.

Armeh was declared winner against Lionuwar, who is a close-friend to Tapha Tine, while Tapha Tine once defeated Big Show, who mentored Armeh.

Boy Faal of Club Brikama Mbolo will entertain Quence of Club Bundung Kai Bakh, Seri Boy of Club Tallinding United will fight against Bebe Biram of Club Jeff Jel while Bebe General of Club Nema Saku Ham will take on Jeff Jel of Club Banjul Japoo to complete the wrestling with blows bouts fondly called "borey dorr".

In the traditional freestyle wrestling popularly called “mbapat”: Arsenal 2 of Club Sanchaba Ham Sa Chossan will take on Express of Club Feke Masi Boleh, Tapha Tine of Club Bara will face Bebe Nyolo of Club Yundum Mbolo, Bebe Chat of Club Paradise Mbolo will entertain Yareh of Club Serekunda Mbolo while Reug Reug of Club Saloum Mbolo and Tassayaram of Sukutankulu will face off in the day's first combat.

The event is expected to attract hundreds of fans, wrestling enthusiasts and some high-profile dignitaries.
