The Whites, Real de Banjul, were behind early pacesetters, Falcons, who topped the league during the second round until the last two games.
Real de Banjul won this year’s league on goal-difference after leveling on points (52) with Falcons FC. Real last won the Gambian Premier League in 2014.
However, Falcons FC, who were unarguably one of the best teams in the league this season, squandered their chances of winning the title after conceding three consecutive defeats against Greater Tomorrow, Banjul and Marimoo Pakfood.
Both the top two teams, Real de Banjul and Falcons shared the same statistics apart from the goal-difference which Real is superior.
They both collected 14 wins, 10 draws and suffered six defeats in 30 matches. Real de Banjul scored more goals (38) than Falcons (33) in the league season.
As winners, Real de Banjul was awarded goal medals, a giant trophy and a cheque of one million dalasis.
