Raptim clinches TSWDO trophy

Raptim Football Club has clinched the 2020 Tallinding South Ward Development Committee (TSWDC) football tournament trophy.

They beat Bradford 1-0 in a tightly-contested final match played at the Buffer Zone football field over the weekend.

Both sides played brilliant football and craft some goal scoring opportunities.

Ebou Sowe opened the scores for Raptim in the first half from a well taken strike, which eventual earned them the trophy.

As champions, Raptim were decorated with a giant trophy, gold medals and a cash prize of D15, 000 whilst Bradford pocketed D10, 000 as the runners-up.

Sellu Jallow was awarded the best player of the tournament and received a golden boat.

The much-anticipated final attracted hundreds of football admirers from Tallinding and its satellite villages, including various Councilors within Tallinding and other significant dignitaries.

Speaking to reporters shortly after the match, head coach of Raptim Julius Basiru Kamara alias Manager, expressed happy for lifting the trophy, noting that it was a tough journey.

"Many rated us as under dogs but I believed in my boys because they are very hard working and committed, ’’Kamara said.

Kebba Manneh, head coach of Bradford, said his side was unlucky to lift the trophy, adding that his team defeated Raptim in the group phase of the tournament.

Karamo Cessay, Ward Councilor of Tallinding South, said the objective of the tournament was to bring youth together.

 He stated that they received one hundred thousand dalasi from Kanifing Municipal Council to divide into three (D25,000 on religious, D25,000 for youths empowerment  and D25,000 for helping schools among others.
